Michael Aaron Gallagher began writing poetry at a young age. It wasn’t until high school, when he started to explore hidden messages and secret meanings, that his work found an audience and began to be published.
In 1999, his poem “Hello Everyone” was published in The Windmill (literary magazine, Spring issue). In 2011, one of his haiku was featured on a poster for the Syracuse Poster Project on display around the city of Syracuse, New York.
He was asked to be a special guest speaker at the opening ceremonies of the 4th Annual Native Circle festival, where he read his poem celebrating Native American culture in Central New York.
“I wanted to celebrate the cultural importance of the Haudenosaunee people and the significance of Lake Onondaga as a sacred place to the Iroquois,” he said.
