By Michael Aaron Gallagher
I chose you for the golden-yellow hair
That tumbled down the side of your cheeks
At times the wind pushed it aside
And I found your pouting lips
Fighting off a smile
Your blue-green eyes danced side-to-side
Gazing out at the Caribbean Sea
The rocks and waves laughing thunderously
As you spoke about the importance of communication
And foreign relations
The height of your imagination left me in the dust
While you thought of new ways to grow and change
I must have allowed my mind to wander to a new position
Of politics and perfection
And your chosen profession
You led me back to where it all began
To the start of something beautiful,
Your essence, tucked away on the inside
